Grace Bilbao is a recent graduate from the College of Design at North Carolina State University. She earned her bachelor's degree in Art & Design with a focus in fibers and fashion design. Her work focuses on experimental use of textile and fiber design, employing traditional crafts such as knitting and crochet.
Developing interests in both fibers and illustration, Grace Bilbao's work aims to convey a narrative through playful, imaginative uses of materials and traditional fiber craft techniques. Her work focuses on experimental uses of various textiles and reestablishing the reputation and importance of overlooked hand processes. Grace is currently using fashion and garment design as an avenue to both create a personally immersive experience for the wearer and to explore how her art can align with utilitarian design. She is fascinated with designs that inspire tactile and imaginative curiosity through texture, form, and imagery. |
